FM212R Guitar Amp
User Reviews Review by Khawaja Jodat Overall I bought it 3 months ago. I found it very simple amp as far as features are concerned. It is very easy and quick to shape your basic sounds. The overall built quality is satisfactory. I find the vinyl covering slightly thin and can be easily scratched. Rear panel auxiliary area is not equipped with connecting options at all which made me disappointed. Overall finishing is quite good especially the front grill and panel. I did not like the chrome plated metal stoppers at its base as they tend to skid on the floor. Sound Sound wise I found this amp satisfactory. The Clean channel is loud and clear at low to high volume level. The sound is not that bright and therefore I perfer to use a 7-band equalizer with it to make it more transparent. I also recommend to use a compressor with it and keep it ON all the time. The Drive channel overdrive is quite good and fulfills almost every music style. The More Drive channel is noisey but has got bundle of sustain. The Mid Contour feature is very useful and I keep it engage all the time as it makes the sound more beefy. I am impressed with the large voice coil cones of its speakers which tends to generate powerful sound and also provide even sound breakup. I wish it would have a better spring reverb. I mostly keep it at 5 as beyond this it become unnatural or you can say Crazy. I perfer to use Boss RV-5 or Zoom G1 reverb with it. Look The overall looks of this amp are quite impressive. I do not like the ordinary labels on the speakers magnets as they do not give a sober look to the speakers and furthermore there is no mentioning of specifications which is not a professional attitude. The foot switch is again a very old style one which need to be improved. I wish there would be protective corners on the top front side as well to give it a complete look. Nevertheless I admit that it is a worthful amp comparing to its price tag and Fender name plate. Reliability I am pretty sure this Fender amp would not let me down. I still have'nt used it quite loud and I am surprised that why this amp do not have ventilation or heat sink plate provided at its rear panel for cooling purpose. I live here in Pakistan where during summer the ambient temperature reaches around 40 centrigrade.
