Telecaster SSH Vintage Modified Electric Guitar
User Reviews Review by woyvel Overall A very inexpensive alternative for a very versatile guitar. Provided that you carefully choose the guitar and check out all of the workmanship details first. Sound Pickup configuration is great with 5 distinct tones. Positions 2 and 4 give me the strat sounds I want while position 1 gives me classic tele. Position 5 provides the humbucking tele tones ala Keith Richards Look It looks like a tele. Clean look, no faux abuse marks that seem to be trendy. Feel It's not buttery, but you're supposed to feel like you're working a little bit when you play a tele. Reliability You really have to play the right one and be sure everything is as it should be - sound feel, intonation. The first one I played (and took home without going through everything) had neck issues that couldn't be solved. I took it back and got another one that needed a few adjustments by the tech, but is fine. Value Considering what you'd have to do to get this pickup configuration in a tele or any other guitar, it can't be beat. Modifying any Fender tele to get this would run you over $1000. Other Comments I looked for about 2 years for a tele with the versatility I wanted. I considered a Fender tele HH, a Parker P36, and several others. I balked at the name "Squier" on it for that long, but when I really thought about it, it was the right guitar at the right price. |
