Overall

Great guitar out of the box but there are some issues. Even the fender website can't explain. I was surprized to find a single ply pickguard on this model. When I removed the plastic wrap from it a real pain under the knobs and all but it started to pickup static from my fingers hitting it and pop thru the amp. I had to put a sticker on the pickguard to shield it. Next all photos show a tremelo on this model but you cannot use one unless you remove the wood block nobody tells you about. String height had to be adjusted for fret rattle.

Sound

Sounds great don't get me wrong about the little problems ,it sounds like Clapton almost. Just don't forget to unplug the cord from the guitar when your done or the battery will go dead. All toggle positions are good.

Look

Great except cheap one ply pickguard, guess thats the way clapton wanted it . Nice and light .

Feel

very comfortable for chords.

Reliability

Time will tell

Value

For that money I should not have any problems at all.

Other Comments

Fender if you read these get on the ball as you promote this as an american artist model. Your description is poor and lacks the real specs no where to be found. PS I still love this guitar.

Overall

What makes a great guitar. When you play a good one, you go places you didn't know you could get to. When you play a great one, you go someplace that you don't know how you got there, but you remember the trip. This guitar will take you places.

This is the 7th strat that I've had. My current three favorites are a $159.00 jap white one from 1995, a 1962 reissue, and the Clapton. This one looks like the jap strat, which is not a put down. I teach to kids, and for $159 I can get a kid playing a guitar that doesnt hurt their hands, stays in tune, and lets them dream or creating havoc on society. How cool is that! The Clapton lets me do the same thing

Sound

I played on television for a couple of years. I hqave my own studio, and I gig every chance I get. I need simplicity od sound creation. I need clean, loud, and the end od the world death crunch. I get all three with the Clapton. I dial a knob. I can remember that. I have every boss petal. I now do not need the 4 crunch petals. The guitar does it. I run pro tools in my studio. I don't need the plug ins. I've got two super champs (1979) that I run stereo and then use a AKG large diaphram to record with. I can hear it all with that

Look

I was taking lessons from a great guitar teacher in 1967, This kid was one year older than me but he could play like a soon of a B+6$7#. He was explaining what a strat was. He palyed a tele, and was the best player I heard until I saw Bob Seger playing at high school dances in detroit. Anyway he was telling me how fender started with the tele than fixed it with the strat. This was said almost 40 years ago. The look/style/design/ is old. Like me. But do you know what, everytime some 15 year old kid puts one on and does a I, IV. V power chord progression with a new melody, it is all brand new.

Feel

When you talk about feel you are talking about your hands and your body. I'm a big guy and the cutouts put the guitar right with me. The oposite of a fender is an ovation. playing an ovation is like trying to hold a snake. Maybe you cqan do it, but why? Any how, 50 years of making guitar bodies fit human bodies makes sense to me. Now, about the hands, here's the deal. First, the neck is a v. My 62 is thinner and perhaps faster. It sounds different though. The clapton is in your face ready to fight on a saturday night, ready for business. The 62 is ......jazz. It's cool, but it is not a clapton! Viva la difference!

Reliability

I've had seven strats. When one breaks, I will let you know, but I will tell you8 about maintainance. Get a maintaince guide. Do your own work.. It isn't hard. Keep your motor clean. Change string often. Always play in tune A-440 so you develope your ear. Wipe down every time you play. Wash your hands before you play. Wear a shirt. Bug spray and depderant are awful on you guitar. Dont worry about nicks or scratches, they happen, but don't do them on purpose- and don't pay for them (relic=stupid). Take care of your stuff. a guitar isn't furnature, but it might be your paycheck. Don't loan you ax to someone you wouldn't trust dating your little sister. Also, some girls can kick but on a strat-Sheryl Crow.........

Value

I've got lots of guitars. The all serve a purpose. When I pick one up, does it help me create, express, learn, and keep my interest going. I've played for 41 years now, and I'm learning every day. For $1300.00, I will get my money back in 1 year for each hour I enjoy it in my hands( at $1 per hour) I play 2-3 hours per day.

Other Comments

This guitar communicates- I believed it is thru the electronics. The neck, fretboard, body are standard, This is a great sounding and playing guitar!
