Overall

ok guys (and girls)

i have a beautiful gibson les paul deluxe which was my dream guitar in all ways, i also have an old e2 flame top explorer (gibson) with emg,s. which is a monster.

my buzzsaw sits perfrctly inbetween these 2 perfectlty, in sound and obviously looks.

i bought it cos it was so cheap, and my intent was to put it on ebay and make a few quid. but this never happened, cos when i got it and took off the weeny strings and put on my 12 - 56 in standard tuning the tone blew me away.

Sound

this is a text book les paul, put on ur old rock music from 1 end to the scale to the other, and this baby wiil produce the sounds u love. When u plug in please refrain from crankin the gain all the way up, keep it down and explore the tonal possibilites that this over the top guitar can produce. It is as fat as u want to take it, and as gentle when u roll off the volume in the time honoured way. Lovley plummy neck pickup voice, and gr8 cut from the bridge. take time to mix volumes and tones in the middle, THIS IS a grown up guitar.

Look

what can i say, u can either pull off wielding 1 of these bad boys or u cant.

not much more to say u will either love it or hate it,

im pretty traditional in my guitar likes, but i love this , and its probably fair to say this is the least popular of the zakk wylde trio.

Feel

cos i own the real thing (only a badge in some ways) i can be pretty accurate in description. the neck feels familiar, the only obvious difference is(and my only real complaint) is the 3 piece neck, not bein anal here but the scarf joint at the headstock was badly finished on mine and u can feel a bump where it has been sanded accross the different grains. Look 4 this when checkin 1 out. the finish is super tough cos my gibson in really road scarred cos the nitro cellulose is so soft, and the baby is showin no signs of wear at all, and i am usin it more than the gibbo at the mo.

Reliability

hasn,t gave me any grief yet, i have owned this for over a year now, and apart from the jack plug comin loose periodically no probs, by the way this seems to happen to all my guitars for some reason, so i put up with it.

Value

i got this 4 a 3rd of it retail, so top value.

as i already stated i was gonna stick this on ebay, and im sure i would have made a couple of hundred quid on it, but it was too good to get rid off.

i have also read about people hackin out the hz emg,s and puttin in the active 81 or 89 etc, i think this is a waste of time, dont think of these pickups as cheap alternatines, but think of them as lovly alnico magnet humbuckers that deliver the les paul sound that u know and love. if u r gonna crank the gain all the way up and detune then tone dosnt matter to u

Other Comments

what more can i say ?

if u can stand up at the front with 1 of these then u will not be disappointed, i now totally rate epiphone guitars , don,t be a snob about these guitars , they r not starter guitars in my opinion, but the real deal in a cheaper package.
