Dot Studio Electric Guitar
User Reviews Review by Scott Overall Cant afford a ES335. Buy this. Blues, rock, jazz and that old 50s" sound Sound Nice - That Chuck Berry and BB King sound Look Same as an ES335 - Nice Feel Same as an ES335 Reliability Been playing it 11 years, not one problem Value For the price compared to the original - Best value Other Comments Wish they were made in the USA , but nicely made. Review by Bluesguy Overall Overall a very nice guitar. An incredable guitar for the price. I have owned an ES-335 and a ES-347 and this guitar comes very close. Sound I ordered a set of SD Pearly Gates at the same time I ordered the guitar. I did play it with the origional P/U until the new SDs came and I was suprized with the sound right out of the box. Real nice. Look The worn sunburst finish looks nice Feel Feels like a Gibson Value Would be a great deal for 2x the price. Review by dave21 Overall This is a lot of serious guitar for the price. Not a toy or learner guitar. Some of the finishing touches are left off, but you are left with an instrument that is well worth twice the amount. Sound Sound is very versatile. I have used the neck pick up for jazzy thick tones. The neck is petty hot for rock n roll, turning down the volume a tad gives you more of a jangly sound. Look Plain looking, but it does look serious. If you want a flashy guitar keep looking. Feel The neck fits my hand well, similar to a les paul. Full, not thin like a stratocaster. The finish on the guitar is a semi flat satin. It looks worn, but has a soft feel to it. This is not a glossy guitar. I have not seen too many guitars with this finish, it is unique. I like that. Reliability Well, no trouble so far. I have had the guitar for two years now. Although this is a Chinese guitar, the fit and finish are excellent. I did have to have the volume and tone knobs hand tightened when I first received it. Possible never fully tightened at the factory as a safety precaution. Value I find the Dot very versatile for recording. It is comfortable to play and can achieve different styles. Other Comments If you have to buy one guitar, this is nice. It can handle most types of sound from funky rhythms, mellow jazz, rock, and metal. It doen's sound country, but then it's not a Telecaster either. This is lighter than a les Paul, nice if you play for more than 15 minutes at a time. The finish is plain, but the quality is surprisingly nice. I have the brown, and I like it. The Dot being a semi-hollow body allows you to noodle around acoustically when the neighbor's are sleeping. |
