Review by John Davis

Overall

I had wanted one of these guitars for 20 years. Finally found one at Elderly Instruments in Lansing about three years ago. This guitar did not disappoint. The best playing, best sounding guitar I ever had in my hands. The clarity is incredible for a 12 string. As a matter of fact, the sound quality of each string is so good it forces you to change strings more regular. If you string starts going dead, it really stands out.

Sound

The clarity is incredible for a 12 string. As a matter of fact, the sound quality of each string is so good it forces you to change strings more regular. If you string starts going dead, it really stands out.

Look

The guitar has a high gloss finish and tons of inlay. It literally shines on stage. Add the gold plated hardware and it truely looks as good as it plays.

Feel

I own a Les Paul, Telecaster and a Martin D 28. Each of those guitars had professional set as did my Guild. They all play great, but the Guild out shines them all. You can barr chord all the way to the 12th fret as easy or easier than my Les Paul.

Reliability

I found out the hard way to not remove all the strings at once. I did that the first time I changed the strings and the double truss rod bent the neck backwards without the tension of the strings. Make certain you read the book that comes with the guitar for care. Once I got the strings back on the neck righted itself, but it scared me there for a moment.

Value

I have heard that Fender was moving the production of the F512 out of the country. I assume this will increase the value of mine.
