Overall
For what you're paying the Epiphone AJ-500 is a super value. The build quality and sound of this box is exceptional. I have a Martin D-18 and while I would not make a comparison between these two, the epi might be considered in the same league as the Martin. The sound is vibrant, the action is excellent and the playability is exeptional. It does not have the deep tones that the $2000 plus guitars have, but it is a sweet instrument. My friends love playing it. It is similar to the J-45 in body shape, but lacks the 24 3/4 scale, which I would have preferred. A great guitar for the money.

Excellent vibrant sound; weak in the lower tones.

Great build quality. Satin finish is classy.

Thin neck makes it easy to move around the fretboard.

Overall
Best value going in acoustic guitars. I've owned for about 5 years and its still in great shape. the build quality is fantastic and it sounds great. When you buy this guitar you get a top of the line Epiphone and it is worlds better than a Martin for a comparable price. It feels excellent the strings aren't to tight.
